From DDOT:

“The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will temporarily close single lanes on the following roadways while conducting critical bridge inspections beginning Monday, October 26, 2015, and continuing until Friday, October 30, 2015, between 10 am and 3 pm, weather permitting. The closures are necessary for DDOT to perform a series of routine, annual bridge and tunnel safety inspections.

The lane closures will alternate and will be implemented sequentially. The following closures will occur:

· Monday, 10/26: Right-lane closure of eastbound East Capitol Street under southbound Anacostia Freeway. Then it will be followed by right-lane closures of westbound East Capitol Street under southbound Anacostia Freeway, followed by alternating left- and right-lane closures of southbound Anacostia Freeway over East Capitol Street.

· Tuesday, 10/27: Alternating left- and right-lane closures on eastbound K Street under Washington Circle followed by alternating left- and right- lane closures of westbound K Street under Washington Circle.

· Wednesday, 10/28: Right-lane closure on eastbound K Street under 22nd and 24th streets followed by a right-lane closure on westbound K Street under 22nd and 24th Streets.

· Thursday, 10/29: Alternating left- and right-lane closures of northbound Connecticut Avenue under DuPont Circle followed by alternating left- and right-lane closures on southbound Connecticut Avenue under DuPont Circle.

· Friday, 10/30: Alternating left- and right-lane closures on eastbound East Capitol Street under Kenilworth Avenue followed by alternating left- and right-lane closures of westbound East Capitol Street under Kenilworth Avenue.

Temporary signs will be in place to alert and guide the traveling public as they approach the work zone. Drivers are advised to watch for advanced warning signs alerting them to changes in traffic patterns and detours.

The closures are expected to produce moderate-to-heavy delays, and DDOT encourages all motorists to stay alert and to be observant of the inspection personnel as they travel through this corridor.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
