“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting that took place in the area of the 7800 block of Alaska Avenue, Northwest on Monday, October 26, 2015 at approximately 9:08 am.

Members of the Fourth District patrolling the area observed suspicious activity at an establishment within the block. A suspect was observed exiting the store and quickly departing the area. Employees of the establishment provided information that a robbery was in progress at the store. A second suspect, an adult female, fled from the front door of the establishment on foot. While being pursued, the second suspect produced a firearm and shot at the members and continued to flee. The second suspect again engaged the members with gunfire. Members fired upon the second suspect during this assault, striking the suspect and ending the confrontation. Medical attention was summoned to the scene. DCFEMS units arrived on the scene and found the suspect displayed no signs consistent with life. The suspect remained on scene and was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent has been identified as 21-year-old Marquesha McMillan of Northeast, DC.

On Monday, October 26, 2015 the first suspect 21-year-old Ned McAllister of Northeast, DC was located and arrested a few blocks from the offense location. He was charged with Attempt Robbery While Armed.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
