“Dear PoPville,

The contractor took the money and ran from a job to fix up the playground outside of our daycare. It is located just one block away from the Petworth metro on Rock Creek Church Rd. and takes care of infants and toddlers up to age 3 or 4. I have attached a photo of the playground in its current state. Below is more information about what happened.”

Sunshine! Running! Playing!

These are what kids love and sadly, an unethical contractor for a playground at Ideal Child Development Center (NAYEC certified) has taken these simple things away from the kids. This contractor started the work, got paid for most of the project, and stopped the work without notice and has not been able to be reached for the last four months.

The estimates from other contractors to take over the playground project is $6,000 over the remaining budget for the playground. We are hoping to raise this amount to finish the playground.

About Us: Ideal has been providing quality childcare for baby and kids for 40 years in the Petworth neighborhood of Washington, DC.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
