From a press release:

“The Royal in LeDroit Park has announced it will launch a seven-day-a-week happy hour and weekday late-night happy hour starting on Monday, August 10. Running from 3-6 p.m. daily and 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. on weekdays, The Royal will offer specials on classic cocktails, housemade vermouth on draft, wine by the glass and tallboy cans.

The Royal will invite people to come by every day from 3 to 6 p.m. to enjoy the following specials:

$5 house vermouth
Beverage Director Horus Alvarez makes his own vermouth for the bar from start to finish, aging the 20+ ingredient aperitif in 53-gallon barrels for months at a time. The vermouth is served on draft from a vintage copper fire extinguisher.
$5 Narragansett tallboys
$7 classic cocktails
Guests can enjoy a selection of eight classics ranging from a Daiquiri with El Dorado White Rum, lime juice and sugar, a Paloma with Cimarron tequila, lime, grapefruit and soda, a Caipirinha with cachaca, fresh limes and sugar, and a Rye Old Fashioned with Pikesville Rye, bitters, sugar and water.
$7 wine by the glass
one red, one white (daily rotating selection)

And for night owls, the same specials will be offered Sundays through Thursdays from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for their new late-night happy hour.

The Royal’s new happy hours launch on Monday, 8/10.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
