More Metro Delays This Weekend

I might have to make this a regular weekly feature… From WMATA:

“Trains will share one track on the Blue, Yellow lines

Customers can expect lengthy delays of up to 30 minutes this weekend (April 30 to May 2) as old track components are replaced on the Blue and Yellow lines. Inbound and outbound trains will take turns sharing one track on portions of the rail system while the work is taking place. Continues after the jump.

Metrorail customers traveling between the Braddock Road and Van Dorn Metrorail stations on the Blue Line and between the Braddock Road and Huntington Metrorail stations on the Yellow Line should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will be replacing cross ties and welding new rail in place in that area. Trains will share one track between these locations from Friday, April 30 at 10 p.m. to closing (midnight) on Sunday, May 2.

On Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, all Blue Line trains will operate every 30 minutes between the Largo Town Center and Huntington Metrorail stations. Metro will operate a special Blue Line shuttle train that will depart approximately every 30 minutes at 17 minutes and 47 minutes after the hour between the Franconia-Springfield Metrorail station and the King Street Metrorail station. From there, customers will be able to catch another Blue or Yellow Line train headed toward Washington.

On Saturday, May 1, and Sunday, May 2, all Yellow Line trains will depart the Huntington Metrorail station approximately every 30 minutes at 2 minutes and 32 minutes after the hour and will operate to the Greenbelt Metrorail station.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
