Fear not, it’s Awesome Con.

From Events DC:

“Awesome Con, Washington DC’s premiere comic con and pop culture convention will return to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center on May 29 – 31 with more than fifty movie and television celebrity guests making appearances throughout the weekend. Awesome Con expects to greet more than 50,000 pop culture fans across 230,000 square feet of exhibit space and more than 10 rooms of programming.

More than one hundred exhibitors will be selling toys, video games, comics, apparel and other collectible memorabilia. A new addition for 2015 will include kid-centric activities with an area called Kid’s Zone where they can draw along with noted comic book artists, learn how to make their own Superhero symbol, see a wizard magic show, attend Superhero University led by top industry professionals and make their own superhero cape. A full list of Kid’s Zone activities and programming can be found here: http://www.awesome-con.com/kids-zone/.

A wide variety of celebrity guests from screen stars to voice actors will be part of the weekend; signing autographs, sitting on panels, and taking photos with attendees. Among them include the iconic William Shatner and George Takei of Star Trek; Grant Imahara of Discovery Network’s Mythbusters; Jason Mewes, known as Jay from Jay and Silent Bob; Good Charlotte lead guitarist and comic book artist Billy Martin; the original voice actors of all four Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles; Sean Astin of Lord of the Rings and The Goonies; plus cast members from Doctor Who; Once Upon a Time; Power Rangers and Walking Dead.

Single-day admission and three-day weekend packages are available. Kids age 10 and under get in for free. Three-day VIP packages include a commemorative t-shirt, comic book and other paraphernalia, as well as early admission to the event. Ticket and event information can be found at: www.awesomecon.com.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
