Part of why Woodridge was declared a hot neighborhood

From a press release:

“Good Food Markets will host a grand opening event at its flagship location at 2006 Rhode Island Avenue, NE on Saturday, January 24, 2014, owners Kris Garin and James Anderson announced today.

The event will begin at 10:30am with remarks from Councilmembers Kenyan McDuffie (D – Ward 5), David Grosso (D – At Large), and Elissa Silverman (I – At Large) and an official ribbon cutting. The store will feature samples, music, and in-store events will until 9pm.

“We are a community grocery store with a focus on providing our neighbors with fresh, high quality produce, essential groceries and healthy, delicious grab-and-go meals all at affordable prices,” Cristina Moody, vice president of marketing and community outreach.

“They will offer unique access to fresh produce and to good quality food you can’t find at that end of Rhode Island Avenue,” Kyle Todd, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Avenue Main Street said. “We were really impressed with the efforts they made to reach out to the community about what kinds of products they’d like to have,” he added.

Housed in a circa-1920s building, the 1000 square foot space has undergone major interior and exterior renovations. Good Food Markets will be open 9am – 9pm seven days a week.”
