Shooting Homicide in Eckington

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide which occurred in the 200 block of T Street, Northeast.

On Sunday, January 11, 2015, at approximately 12:40 am, members of the Fifth District responded to investigate the sound of gunshots reported in the 200 block of T Street, NE, where they discovered a juvenile male suffering from apparent gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as 17-year-old Andrew Newman, of Northeast. Investigation into the incident continues. Suspect information is not available at this time.
