Death Investigation in Ledroit Park Last Night

From MPD around 10:45pm Sunday night:

“The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a death in the 200 block of Florida Avenue, NW.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call (202) 727-9099.”

Ed. Note: Previous cases of MPD ‘death investigations’ (as opposed to homicide investigations) have concluded natural or self-inflicted causes. Updates if/when more info is known on this case.

UPDATE from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating an undetermined death, which occurred in the 200 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest.

On Sunday, November 30, 2014 at approximately 7:37 pm, Fifth District officers responded for a call for an unconscious male in the rear alley of the 200 block of Florida Avenue, NW. Upon their arrival, they located an adult male who was unconscious and unresponsive suffering from head trauma. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene and transported the unconscious male to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as a 33 year-old Robert Damien Marston of Northeast, Washington, DC.

The decedent’s remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. A determination of the cause and manner of death is pending the results of an autopsy.

The investigation is continuing.

The Metropolitan Police Department is asking anyone with information about this case to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
