Navy Yard’s big week continues with Harris Teeter opening.
From a press release:
“Harris Teeter grocery store in The Yards will open its doors to the public on November 5th, 2014 at 401 M Street, SE as the first full-service grocery store in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood.
Harris Teeter joins an impressive amount of retail that has opened over the past year in the Capitol Riverfront. A total of 9 restaurants – including Osteria Morini, Bluejacket Brewery, Ice Cream Jubilee, and TaKorean – have opened within the past 12 months, and another 3 restaurants are expected to open by the end of 2014. There are currently 23 restaurants open in the Capitol Riverfront that represent a healthy mix of independent, local, and national retailers.
The past 12 months have also brought a total of 7 retail openings in the Capitol Riverfront, including VIDA Fitness with its affiliates Bang Salon and Aura Spa, and Unleashed by Petco. The new mix of retail in the Capitol Riverfront makes this neighborhood a place where people can live, work, play, and shop.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!
The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!
What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
