This Weekend’s Metro Track Work – Rhode Island Avenue & Brookland Stations Closed

“Reconstruction of the Metrorail system will continue over the weekend of August 1-3 with service adjustments on the Red Line only beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and continuing through system closing on Sunday. Buses will replace Red Line trains between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten.

Red Line trains will operate as follows throughout the weekend:

Between Shady Grove & NoMa-Gallaudet: every 10 minutes
Between Glenmont & Fort Totten: every 10 minutes

Free shuttle buses will replace Red Line trains between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten making intermediate stops at Rhode Island Avenue and Brookland. Please allow an additional 10 minutes of travel time for each station stop.

Last Train Time Change: The last Red Line train of the night from Glenmont to Fort Totten will depart 35 minutes earlier than normal to allow for shuttle bus connections. On Friday and Saturday nights, the last train will leave Glenmont at 2:02 a.m., and on Sunday the last train will leave Glenmont at 11:02 p.m.

Work Performed: Communication cable and light pole replacement between NoMa-Gallaudet and Fort Totten

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
