From a press release:

“Chef/Owner Lance London is pleased to debut his new burger concept, TKO Burger, in the vibrant new community of Rhode Island Row, a mixed-use development located just steps from the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood metro at 2350 Washington Place, NE, 20018. This is London’s fourth restaurant in the DC area as he is the proud chef/owner of The Carolina Kitchen with three locations in Washington, DC, Largo, MD and Hyattsville, MD. TKO Burger will open April 17th 24th, and serve lunch and dinner, in addition to offering carryout for those who wish to grab-and-go.

TKO Burger will serve burgers made with good, old-fashioned cooking methods. London’s eight-ounce burgers are certified Angus-beef are seasoned and cooked to order over an open flame and topped with fresh condiments. In addition to the traditional beef burgers, TKO will also offer non-beef burgers, including the Brunch Burger, made with bacon, fried egg and American cheese; the Mac N Cheese Burger, CK’s famous homemade mac n cheese, bacon, cheddar cheese with TKO sauce; the Soft Shell Crab Burger, a battered seasoned fried soft-shelled crab Po Boy; the Veggie Burger, made with lettuce, tomato, grilled pineapple, red onions and sweet & spicy mayo; and the Black Bean Burger, made with homemade guacamole, salsa, lettuce, Monterey Jack cheese and chipotle mayo, just to name a few. All burgers are served on a fresh, toasted potato roll or brioche bun. For the perfect pairing, hand-cut fries, pickles, asparagus, onion rings, plantains, eggplant fries, fried okra, potato salad, bake beans and deviled eggs are also available as sides. The TKO Burger menu will also offer wings, hot dogs and specialty salads. Burger prices will range from $7 to $14.

There will be 12 beers on tap including a variety of IPA, Ales, Domestics and Belgium beers priced from $4 to $7 at TKO Burger. Sixteen beers will also be available by the bottle, and are priced from $4 to $14 each. Non-alcoholic beverages, such as the delicious Sweet Potato Pie, Strawberry Shortcake, Chocolate Banana, and Peach Cobbler milkshakes as well as the refreshing fresh-squeezed “Sucker Punch” Lemonade will also be served for those who fancy something sweet.

London collaborated with Tom Mulhern of 2 Scales Interiors, LLC, to design the boxing themed space. Rustic, hickory-paneled wood with black metal accents provides the backdrop to an assortment of vintage boxing memorabilia and imagery. A twelve-foot black and white mural depicting classic boxing scenes towers over a special reclaimed wood community table in the front of the restaurant. The walls are also filled with illuminated black and white photos of Boxing Hall of Fame champions.

TKO Burger will seat 40 guests. The restaurant has a large, 22-seat communal table providing a space for diners to watch sports and enjoy company of family and friends. Outdoor seating will also be available during the spring and summer months, weather permitting, and can accommodate 28 guests.

TKO Burger is located at 2350 Washington Place, NE, 20018, in the new Rhode Island Row, a mixed-use development located just steps from the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood metro accessible on the Red Line. TKO Burger is open Sunday through Thursday, from 11 AM to 10 PM, and Friday and Sunday, from 11 AM to 12 AM.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
