It’s been a long time coming (actually less than a year) but the glorious day has finally arrived!

From a press release:

“GCDC, Washington’s first grilled cheese-centric restaurant and cheese bar, is officially opening its doors on Friday, April 11, located one block from the White House on the city’s famed Pennsylvania Avenue. The next day (Saturday, April 12), GCDC will celebrate National Grilled Cheese Day with $5 grilled cheese sandwiches and half-priced draft beers from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A fast-casual grilled cheese sandwich lunchtime spot by day and artisanal cheese and wine, beer and cocktail bar by evening, GCDC will cater to both downtown lunchers and the after-work happy hour crowd. During the day, GCDC will serve a playful menu of creative, specialty grilled cheese sandwiches ranging from the Korean-style Kim-Cheese-Steak and the pasta-inspired Grilled Carbonara, as well as a “Grill Your Own” option of artisanal cheeses and toppings. Poutine and nacho-style tater tots, made-from-scratch vegan tomato soup and composed cheese and charcuterie lunch boards round out the lunch offerings.

Evening customers can come back after work for a more dressed-up menu. Elegant, artisanal cheese boards, local charcuterie and composed small plates can be paired alongside a comprehensive beverage program, featuring craft cocktails, local beers, carefully selected wines, and a nod to the owner’s hometown, the Brooklyn egg cream.

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
