“The wait is over! …and what a cold, snowy wait it has been. The Mt. Pleasant Farmers’ Market is back for its 11th season this Saturday, 9am – 1pm. Dust off your market bags and come on by. Read below for the new products and fan-favorites our vendors are bringing. We’re so looking forward to being with you Saturday!

MARKET EVENTS

Fun and Food with the ISH: The Institute for Student Health will join us with kid-friendly educational activities and a cooking demo.
Children’s Play Area: We love kids! Make your market trip a family affair. Shop with your young-ones and then relax and play in our kids space. We’ll bring the toys!

LOCAL FOODS

Pleasant Pops: Back for their 5th year at the market which inspired their name, Pleasant Pops will have Black Cherry Yogurt, Strawberry Ginger Lemonade, Chongos: Mexican Sweet Cream and Cinnamon, and a whole new look to their stand. Be sure to pay them a visit!

People’s Bao: Peter has Chinese steamed edamame buns with tender, slow roasted free range pork or duck. Also available are hot Asian soups to enjoy at the market or cold to take home.

Quaker Valley Orchards: Apples – honeycrisp, Fuji, Mutsu, stayman. Cider, apple sauce and butter, dried honeycrisp chips, kraut, tomato sauce, honey, popping corn, jam in tart cherry, blue and blackberry.

Reid’s Orchard: Cider, a variety of apples and herb plants to get your garden started!

Atwater’s Bread: Naturally leavened, hand shaped loaves like Irish Brown, Peasant Wheat, Sunflower Flex, Sesame Wheat, Struan, Ten Grain, Spelt, Olive, Caraway Rye, Raisin Pumpernickel, Raisin Walnut, Cranberry Pecan, Jalapeno Cheddar, Catonsville Sourdough, Rosemary Italian, Country White, Ciabatta, baguettes. As well as luscious sweets – Seasonal pies, Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookies, Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, Molasses Ginger Cookies, Snickerdoodles, Apricot Bran Muffins, Coffee Cake Pecan Muffins, Mixed Fruit Scones, our Good Food Award winning jam, Fruit & Nut Granola, Cherry Chocolate Granola, Seasonal Teacakes, brownies, and pound cake.

Groff’s Content Farm – Beef: steaks, short ribs, roasts, jerky, ground beef. Lamb. Most pork cuts. Eggs. Complete raw meat dog food. Tallow soaps.

Spring Gap Mountain Creamery: Fresh from Paw Paw, WA, four cheeses: Jersey Gold gouda, Shenandoah Sunrise tomme, Sophie’s Select cheddar and Farmhouse Feta.

Truck Patch Farms – Fresh from the greenhouse: lettuce spring mix, arugula, kale, swiss chard, red beets.

Truck Patch Meat Department –Pork sausage- Applewurst, Country, Ground, Italian hot and sweet, Maple, Sage. Bacon. Pork loins chops, and roast. Shoulder roast bone in and boneless, Shoulder chops, Ribs, and Hams steaks. Whole chickens as well as parts. Turkey parts. Eggs.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
