Props to the Cops – Juvenile Arrested for String of Carjackings and Robberies around the District on Wed.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department announced today that a suspect has been arrested in connection with multiple carjackings and robberies that occurred in the Second, Fourth and Fifth Districts on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

Second District:

At approximately 2:50 pm, a female complainant was entering her vehicle in the 3700 block of Northampton Street NW, when a suspect grabbed her, threw her to the ground and took her vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered.

At approximately 8:05 pm, a female complainant was in the 3200 of Oliver Street NW, when two male suspects punched her, knocked her to the ground, and took her property.

Fifth District:

At approximately 9:35 pm, a male complainant was in the 1800 block of Kearney Street NE when two male suspects punched the complainant, knocked him to the ground and took his property.

At approximately 9:45 pm, a female complainant was in the 3100 block of 10th Street NE, when she was approached by two suspects who sprayed her with pepper spray and took her property.

Fourth District:

At approximately 10 pm, a female complainant was in the unit block of Van Buren Street, NW, when two male suspects approached her, threatened her and took her vehicle. The vehicle was recovered a short distance away.

Through the investigation by detectives from the Second, Fourth and Fifth Districts, a juvenile male suspect was arrested on the afternoon of Thursday, April 3, 2014 and charged with two counts of Carjacking and three counts of Robbery Force and Violence.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
