From MPD:

“Yesterday afternoon at about 3:00 PM, two PSA 107 Officers saw a subject, known to them as a package thief, standing in the 200 block of 11th St SE holding several items that appeared to be package contents. The Officers made contact with the subject and after further investigation they were able to identify the property as being stolen from the front of a home in the 1100 block of Independence Ave SE. The subject, a 47 year old male of Southeast Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with theft and the stolen items were recovered.

Last night, shortly after midnight, 1D plainclothes Officers were conducting surveillance of a suspicious person in the 600 block of 7th St NE. As a result of the Officers operations, they stopped this subject in the 700 block of H St NE, and recovered stolen property that had been discarded by the suspect in 600 block of 7th St NE. Additionally, the suspect had several outstanding bench warrants that stem from earlier package theft arrests. This subject, a 52 year old male of No Fixed Address, was arrested and the property was recovered.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
