Dacha Beer Garden Seeks Your Support for their Plans to build a Small Building with Kitchen while Preserving Outdoor Space

From one of the owner’s of Dacha Beer Garden:

“Dacha Needs Your Help!

You asked, and we answered! Dacha is planning to build a small building with a kitchen and proper bathrooms to better serve our customers, while preserving the green outdoor space that makes Dacha so great.

BUT WAIT!

The DC Historic Preservation Office is requiring that we extend the building to cover the entire outdoor space. Their vision would enclose the beer garden and cover a significant portion of the Elizabeth Taylor mural we’ve all grown to love.

See the pictures to better understand our position. A beer garden with no sun is no beer garden at all!

Please support us! E-mail the Mayor and HPRB the following:

“Hon. Mayor Gray,

I/We support the design for the new Dacha Beer Garden building as submitted to HPRB and not the one Historic Preservation imposes. Please do not let them ruin the mural and destroy the green open space we like so much.”

Historic Preservation – historic.preservation(at)dc.gov”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
