“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to add a little bit more context that’s otherwise missing about the van in this post.
Simply put, the van’s owner has a ridiculous sense of entitlement and is generally a shitty neighbor. A few years ago,
he got into a loud argument with an elderly member of the community because she asked him to move his van as there were “no parking” signs for an impending move. He claimed that he “owned” that spot, even though it was street parking.
That van hasn’t moved in probably at least 10 months, if not longer. There’s a parking pass for a KOA campground dating back to July 2025 still stuck on the rearview mirror.
Prior to its current spot, the van’s owner was notorious for leaving it in other spaces for months at a time. A few years ago, someone actually stuck a note on the van offering to buy it because again, it had been there for months, unused.
There are a few other people in that little area of Adams Morgan who have camper vans and make a good effort to rotate them around and actually use them, and no one has a problem with that whatsoever. It’s just this one guy who has decided to inflict his midlife crisis mobile on everyone else.
And no, I’m not the person who made those stickers, but I support them.”
