Following the devastating flooding in Nepal this week, Kathmandu – Tapas & Cocktails on U Street is launching a month-long effort to raise funds for those affected.
Beginning today through the end of September, owner Dipesh Acharya, who was born in Kathmandu, will donate a portion of the restaurant’s sales directly to Nepal’s Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
For Dipesh, the disaster is deeply personal. He created Kathmandu to bring the food, drinks and culture of his home country to Washington, and now he wants the restaurant to provide a way for the DC community to help Nepal during the recovery.
Every visit and every order through September will contribute to the relief effort.“
