“On Tuesday, February 24, at 9:00 p.m., the President of the United States will deliver the State of the Union Address before a Joint Session of Congress. The State of the Union Address is a designated National Special Security Event (NSSE) and will bring significant activity and heightened security to Downtown DC.
To ensure everyone’s safety, the United States Capitol Police will temporarily close roads around the U.S. Capitol on Tuesday, February 24. The public should expect parking restrictions and be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.
ROAD CLOSURES
From 7:00 p.m. until the conclusion of the event, the following Downtown DC roads will be closed to the public:
Constitution Avenue between 3rd Street, NW, and Louisiana Avenue, NW
First Street between C Street, NW, and Louisiana Avenue, NW
EMERGENCY – NO PARKING
Emergency No Parking will be designated in the following Downtown DC areas from 9:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026:
Pennsylvania Avenue between 6th Street and 3rd Street, NW
Constitution Avenue between 6th Street and 3rd Street, NW
Emergency No Parking will be designated in the following Downtown DC areas from 3:00 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026:
15th Street between New York Avenue and Constitution Avenue, NW
Constitution Avenue between 15th Street and 6th Street, NW”
