Dock Blocked? “Capital Bikeshare members can park ebikes near full or nearly full docking stations for free.”

Thanks to Emily for writing in, “normally there’s a fee for “bad parking” (locking the bike to a bike rack, leaving it on the sidewalk). If the intended dock is full, you can leave it parked “badly” with no additional fee” and passing on from Capital Bikeshare yesterday:

“Rolling up to a full station at the end of a ride can throw off your whole flow. You’ve arrived at your destination, but now you’re circling the block, trying to figure out where to lock up to avoid the out-of-station fee. You told us you needed more flexibility, so we built a better way to wrap up your ride.

A new perk, just for members.

Starting today, Capital Bikeshare members can park ebikes near full or nearly full docking stations for free.
Here’s how it works

Check the station
Free out-of-station ebike parking applies when a station has three or fewer docks available.

Park within 40 meters
Park your ebike as close to the station as possible for the most reliable connection.

Lock and confirm
Secure your ebike with the cable lock and check the app to make sure your ride has ended. As always, please keep sidewalks clear and avoid no-parking zones shown in the app to prevent additional fees.

This update is part of our ongoing commitment to making trips faster, easier, and more reliable from start to finish. Happy riding!”
