“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to report that the Whole Foods on H Street once again reeks. It had improved temporarily after you last posted (coincidence?!) but the rotten meat/trash smell is back with a vengeance.
We need to get our shopping done ASAP, otherwise we’d go elsewhere. It’s that bad. We asked an employee, who was so sweet and immediately acknowledged the problem, what’s going on and she said that’s it’s like this a lot as a result of this store’s own trash. There’s gotta be a better way…no?!
TBH I feel even worse for the employees there who have to put up with it all day, especially when they visit the garbage area. But it’s bad for everyone.”
Back in September 2025 a reader asked:
“Can we talk about/find out why the Whole Foods on H street smells like vomit for the past week???”
At that time readers said: “It has something to do with a pipe… this is what they told us when we asked a few weeks ago”
“They told me the machine that manages their garbage is broken and they haven’t been able to replace the part…”
Whole Foods first opened up on H Street back in 2017.
