From a press release:
“Café Cino, a locally-owned boutique café brewing specialty coffee and tea, announced today that it will open its first brick-and-mortar location at the Bridge District. Owned by husband-and-wife duo Ron Collins and Carolina Meurkens, the 1,100-square-foot space will offer full-scale espresso drinks, pastries and smoothies, with plans to provide additional food and beverage offerings and host community-centered events at the Bridge District.
Café Cino began as a pop-up at local plant store, PLNTR,
in November 2022 and quickly built a devoted following in D.C.’s café scene. Named after the couple’s first child, the couple’s passion for community, sustainability and quality has shaped every detail of Café Cino. Café Cino is known for its curated pour-over program featuring single-origin beans from local partners like Others Coffee and Southeastern Roastery, as well as direct relationships with family-run farms in Colombia and Brazil. With an expanded menu of loose-leaf teas and a calendar of community events from book swaps to DJ sets, the café has become a cultural and caffeinated hub for regulars and newcomers alike.
“Opening our first permanent home at the Bridge District is an incredible milestone as we celebrate our third anniversary,” said Ron Collins and Carolina Meurkens of Café Cino. “Café Cino was built on the idea that coffee brings people together, and that idea has shaped our business and our family. We’re excited to grow our community at the Bridge District – just steps away from our family’s home – and create a space that feels welcoming, intentional and full of flavor.”
Located at the foot of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, the Bridge District is a dynamic eight-acre, mixed-use development featuring residential living, retail, public parkland and community recreation space. Conveniently located on the Washington Metro Green Line and adjacent to a 100-acre national park and the 20-mile Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, the neighborhood offers open space, access to nature and climate-conscious living. With the recent opening of Atlas Brew Works and the upcoming debut of Café Cino’s first brick-and-mortar location, the Bridge District is quickly becoming a destination for local food, culture and community.
“Café Cino’s first permanent home at the Bridge District reflects our vision for a neighborhood rooted in sustainability and powered by local businesses, innovators, and creatives who bring great talent and energy to this community,” said John Kilborne, Vice President of Development at Redbrick. “We’re proud to support local entrepreneurs who share our commitment to building spaces that are vibrant, inviting and deeply connected to the people who live here.”
