“Wonder, a new kind of food hall, to open first DC location July 10 with public grand opening, live music and more”

1925 14th Street, NW

From a press release:

“Wonder, a new kind of food hall that allows diners to experience the nation’s best restaurants and chef offerings in a single order, from Marcus Samuelsson’s Streetbird to New York’s iconic Thai eatery SriPraPhai to Atlanta barbecue favorite Fred’s Meat & Bread, is set to open its first Washington-area location in the 14th Street corridor on July 10, with a Rosslyn location opening quickly thereafter, on July 24.

As the first of eight Wonder stores in the Washington area, Wonder 14th Street (1925 14th St. NW) and Wonder Rosslyn (1771 N. Pierce St., Unit 100) will each celebrate with huge community grand opening celebrations. Wonder 14th Street will kick things off July 10 from 4:30-7 p.m. with live music, chances to taste samples from Wonder’s restaurant partners, and exclusive giveaways from She Loves Me, artist Trap Bob and more. The Rosslyn location’s celebration, featuring multiple days of programming and giveaways, will follow on July 24th.

The openings this summer will soon be followed by locations in West End (1200 New Hampshire Ave. NW), College Park (7423 Baltimore Ave.), Cleveland Park (3519 Connecticut Ave. NW), Reston (11690 Plaza America Drive), Franconia (7005 Manchester Blvd.), and Navy Yard (111 N St. SE).

Founded by entrepreneur Marc Lore and with more than 50 brick-and-mortar outposts in New York City, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Connecticut – and plans to expand to 90 locations by the end of 2025 – Wonder represents both next-gen food hall and groundbreaking delivery service, with zero delivery fees. Guests can order seamlessly via the Wonder app, dine in, or carry out, accessing nearly two dozen restaurants available widely for the first time, all under one roof. Using proprietary cooking technology and its own network of delivery drivers, Wonder is able to prepare incredible, chef-driven dishes quickly in a small footprint and have them in your hands in less than 30 minutes, with diners able to experience any combination of dishes and restaurants together in one order, whether they’re dining in, picking up or ordering delivery.

Wonder’s Washington-area restaurants – all owned and operated by Wonder – will include a mix of Wonder exclusives such as build-your-own Mexican offerings from Limesalt; Walnut Lane, a California-inspired eatery from James Beard Award winner Jonathan Waxman; Alanza, with Italian American classics from chef Al Lanza; the Greek-influenced Chios Taverna from celebrity chef Michael Symon; and Room for Dessert, featuring a collection of specialties from Magnolia Bakery, Baked by Melissa and Junior’s. Rounding out the list of 20 eateries are icons such as Brooklyn’s legendary Di Fara Pizza, Texas staple Tejas Barbecue and Streetbird by Marcus Samuelsson.

In DC, Wonder is proudly partnering with DC Central Kitchen, the nonprofit and social enterprise that combats hunger and poverty through job training and job creation. Wonder will donate $1 from every meal sold in its first week to DCCK, as well as give patrons the opportunity to “round up” their change to making a donation to DCCK with every order, year-round. Efforts such as these have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars so far for communities where Wonder operates.

“Wonder’s unique model has brought together chefs, communities, and philanthropy, serving customers a new dining experience while giving them the opportunity to help amazing organizations like DC Central Kitchen,” said Chef José Andrés, the Washington culinary icon who is a member of Wonder’s board of directors advising on chef partnerships, growth strategies and more. “Wonder will be a great addition to Washington DC.”

Wonder 14th Street will be open 10:30am-11:30 pm daily.
