Any idea what happened at 12th and U this morning? Streets and alleys blocked, multiple detectives out, and all of the police in the area said “I don’t know” when asked what happened.”

“Preliminarily on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at approximately 4:14 a.m.,
Third District officers responded to the 1200 block of U Street, Northwest, for a report of a traffic crash. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, unconscious not breathing, that was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after all lifesaving measures failed the victim was pronounced dead. Homicide Detectives and Major Crash are investigating the incident.
