3rd and F Street, NW

MPD reported 9:18pm Wed. night: “Alert: Shooting investigation in the area of 3rd and F Street NW. Avoid the area. Details to come.”

NBC News reported:

“Two staff members of Israel’s embassy in Washington, D.C., were shot dead outside the district’s Capital Jewish Museum on Wednesday night, officials said.

The suspect shouted “Free, free Palestine” while in police custody and “implied” that he committed the shooting, Washington Police Chief Pamela Smith said. He was identified as Elias Rodriguez, in his early 30s, of Chicago.”

From the Embassy of Israel:

“Yaron and Sarah were our friends and colleagues. They were in the prime of their lives.

This evening, a terrorist shot and killed them as they exited an event at the Capital Jewish Museum in DC.

The entire embassy staff is heartbroken and devastated by their murder. No words can express the depth of our grief and horror at this devastating loss.

Our hearts are with their families, and the embassy will be by their side during this terrible time.”

From the Spokesperson of the Israeli embassy in Washington:

“Yaron and Sarah,

Words cannot begin to describe the heartbreak and sorrow. Just this morning, we were still laughing together by the coffee corner — and now, all that remains is a picture.
Instead of walking you down the aisle, we are walking with you to your graves.
What an unbearable loss 💔💔”
