Weekend Crime Reports including a homicide where “One bullet struck a window of the victim’s apartment. The victim was not targeted.”

A reader reports:

“There were a lot of news reports of shootings on Memorial Day. They didn’t report any of the craziness we had in LeDroit. We had a shooting in LeDroit park on Sunday. No one was hit but there were over 40 shots fired. And we had two cars chase each other at high speed with guns on Saturday.

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northwest.

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 6:11 p.m., Fourth District officers responded to the 1500 block of Ogden Street, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Officers located an adult male inside of an apartment, unconscious and not breathing suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after all lifesaving measures failed, the victim was pronounced dead.

The investigation determined the shooting occurred in an alley to the rear of the apartment complex. One bullet struck a window of the victim’s apartment. The victim was not targeted.

The decedent has been identified as 59-year-old Jose Carcamo of Northwest, DC.

On Sunday, May 25, 2025, at approximately 5:47 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to the 3300 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, unconscious not breathing, suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and after finding no signs consistent with life the victim was pronounced dead.

The decedent has been identified as 26-year-old Benjamin Coleman of Northwest, DC.

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a triple shooting that resulted in one fatality in Southeast.

On Monday, May 26, 2025, at approximately 1:59 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 3400 block of 13th Place, Southeast, for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival officers located two adult males inside of an apartment suffering gunshot wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded and after all lifesaving measures failed, one adult male was pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A third victim, also an adult male was located conscious and breathing, suffering a gunshot wound, in the 1300 block of Savannah Street, Southeast. He was transported by DC Fire and EMS to an area hospital for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life threatening.

The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old James Robinson of Southeast, DC.
