I’m looking for recommendations for local charities doing excellent work in areas like poverty reduction, education, and violence reduction. I know a few, but I love hearing about good experiences from the local braintrust.
I didn’t feel great about writing a tax check to the current US government this year. I usually think about the good things my taxes fund, but talk about shrinkflation — so many of my favorite government programs have been uprooted. I want to match my outstanding tax payment with some local community investment as a tiny bit of fascism offset.”
