C&O Restaurant & Lounge opens at the Canal House

“The recently opened Canal House of Georgetown, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is excited to welcome guests to its now open C&O Restaurant & Lounge. Situated just steps from the iconic Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, which dates back to 1828, the C&O Lounge is inspired by colorful design and authentic taste from the region.

The C&O Lounge offers a chic atmosphere, designed for connection and ambiance. Shades of deep green and mood lighting create an eye-catching background for the traditional flavors of the region to shine through its menu inspired by historic local dishes.Guests can also dine in the outdoor courtyard equipped with a center firepit and surrounding heaters.

For starters guests can select from options like Heirloom Beet Carpaccio with thinly sliced roasted beets, whipped goat cheese and hazelnuts, or Towpath Smoked Tins which comes with smoked trout, smoked salmon and smoked oysters served with crusty bread and pickled vegetables.

The dinner menu offers a modern spin on classic recipes featuring items such as the Chesapeake Chicken Skewers; grilled chicken marinated in olive oil, black garlic and lemon served with a cucumber and tomato salad, the Coal Miner’sShort Rib Ravioli; slow-braised beef short ribs stuffed with ravioli served under a creamy mushroom sauce, and the Boatman’s Catch; pan-seared local rockfish served with a lemon butter caper sauce over seasonal roasted vegetables.

At the bar, refreshing and creative cocktails include the Lockhouse Old Fashioned; Buffalo Trace Bourbon, demerara syrup, angostura bitters and cherry bitters. This cocktail can also be made smoked, where guests can select from cherry, apple, oak, or hickory. The Potomac Mule features local VDC Cabernet Cast Bourbon, lime juice, ginger beer and fresh mint. A selection of zero-proof cocktails such as a Minted Potomac Splash and Smoky Canal Spritz, along with an extensive selection of beers, ciders, and wines round out the beverage menu.

Breakfast culinary highlights include; Canal Boat Benedict featuring poached eggs and Chesapeake crab cakes, PawPaw Pancakes fluffy pancakes infused with pawpaw fruit puree served with maple syrup and butter, and Coal Miner’s Breakfast Bowl featuring creamy grits topped with pulled pork, fried egg, and a drizzle of house BBQ sauce.

C&O Lounge will offer breakfast Monday through Friday from 6:30AM to 10AM and Saturday through Sunday from 6:30AM to 11AM. Dinner will be available from 5:00PM to 10:00PM, and Bar Service from 4:00PM to 12:00AM everyday.
