From Cafe Fiorello:

“Café Fiorello, a cherished New York City institution known for its famed antipasto bar, house-made pastas, and warm hospitality, is proud to announce the opening of its Washington, D.C. location on May 21st. Located just steps from the White House and The U.S. Capitol at 1001 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Café Fiorello will bring a storied legacy to one of the city’s most historic corridors where diners can experience the classic flavors of New York’s Upper West Side.

Blending the elegance of an Italian trattoria with the bustling energy of a city brasserie, Café Fiorello’s menu pays homage to classic culinary favorites – from the creamy rigatoni alla vodka studded with smoky bacon, burrata ravioli, dover sole dressed with lemon beurre blanc, delicate thin-crust pizzas, and a classic fluffy tiramisu – each dish is rooted in tradition. The beverage program compliments the menu with an Italian-forward wine list, signature spritz bar, and curated Negroni lineup.

“When I opened Café Fiorello over 50 years ago in New York City, my goal was to create a place where people could gather over delicious food, hand-crafted cocktails, and genuine hospitality,” said Shelly Fireman, Founder of The Fireman Hospitality Group. “I’m thrilled to bring that same spirit to Washington, D.C. – a city with such history, culture, and a vibrant dining scene. We cannot wait for the city to become a part of our family.”

The 6,500 square foot venue is anchored by rich green and gold accents, handcrafted furniture made in Italy, plush banquettes, and a wood-burning grill that infuses dishes with irresistible flavor. Guests are welcomed by the striking antipasto bar – founder Shelly Fireman’s original signature touch – and backlit onyx features throughout the venue provide guests with the ultimate dining experience where timeless design and culinary artistry come together.

In addition to the main dining experience, the D.C. restaurant will soon offer classic lunch and weekend brunch offerings – catering to downtown tourists, government officials, and professionals.

The restaurant’s strategic location makes it the ideal spot for both locals and visitors. The space was most recently home to Tadich Grill, the old-school standby out of San Francisco that lasted three years, and has been transformed to reflect Café Fiorello’s signature look, complete with an outdoor patio coming later this summer, offering views of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Café Fiorello is part of the Fireman Hospitality Group, which also operates NYC classics like Brooklyn Diner, Bond 45, and Trattoria Dell’Arte.
