Thanks to Jayson for the updates on 22nd Street, NW construction:
“Last week, workers showed up again and resumed working on the underground work on 22nd street at Q.
Also, the right lane was reopened on 22nd from P to Q, so that will help with traffic flow.”
Update:
Brian Romanowski
Constituent Services Director
Office of Councilmember Brooke Pinto, Ward 2 shares more: “The current estimated timeline is for July 2025 completion, with a note that portions of the road may reopen as work progresses. Please read more below and at the link at the end of their update.”

“As you are aware, DC Water has been working to complete a two-phase emergency repair to a portion of sewer on 22nd Street NW since last July. To help ensure public safety and protection of our crews working underground, we have coordinated with DDOT on temporary closure of the portion of 22nd Street between P and Q Streets during this emergency repair work.
We are happy to report that Phase 1 of the project is now successfully completed, and Phase 2 is currently underway with an anticipated 6-month duration to completion of this phase and the overall project.
We have heard and understand the increasing frustration from the community regarding this lengthy road closure, and the inconvenience this has caused. In light of this, we are also happy to report that we have reopened one northbound lane to vehicular traffic on 22nd Street while the emergency repair work continues (please see attached our updated detour map)!
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your continued patience as we complete this critical repair to your local sewer system infrastructure.
Please check this link to see our updated traffic advisory containing these and additional details on the repair project.”
