Update from X: “Emergency services, including divers from the DC Fire and EMS Department and the DC Police Dive Team, responded promptly. Despite their efforts, the driver was pulled from the submerged vehicle in critical condition and later died in the hospital.”

DC Fire and EMS first reported around 7:30pm last night (THursday):

“Vehicle into Potomac River beneath the Arlington Memorial bridge. Vehicle submerged. In process of transporting divers out to scene. Vehicle came off the bridge after collision with another vehicle.

Update vehicle into water Arlington Memorial Bridge. 1 individual from submerged vehicle brought to shore & receiving advanced life support. 2nd vehicle involved on bridge & 2 patients transported with minor injuries.

Update Arlington Memorial Bridge. Victim removed from submerged car transported critical life threatening condition. Only 1 patient transported from car on bridge. Secondary searches around sunken vehicle located no further victims. Thanks to partners Metropolitan Police Department, The United States Park Police, Arlington County, VA Fire Dept and Alexandria Fire-EMS.”
