“Dear PoPville,
I was wondering if I could query the group about what to do with a negligent property manager from the landlord perspective. We are US diplomats currently based overseas. We hired a property management company that is clearly failing to address serious issues that have been raised by our tenant
(like plumbing) to the point things escalated and the city was called. I am both angry for the tenants who are having to deal with the situation and frankly for myself who feels blindsided by a company I trusted to care for our home while we are 10,000 miles away.
We hired the property management company in July 2024, since then they have cost nearly $15,000 in lost revenue and fines by DOB. Has anyone had success hiring legal representation to sever the contract and/or recoup some of the lost money? Additionally does anyone have advice on how best to respond to the DOB notices?”
