“Dear PoPville,
Nothing brings out the dysfunction of DC quite like a snow storm.
This week the district plowed all of the snow on New York Ave NE onto the sidewalks meaning it’s extra deep and dangerous – people are actually walking on the road. The problem is that
there are no businesses or homes on the heavily used stretch from Union Market to Ivy City – it’s all median which is District property.
I have called 311 multiple times asking for it to be cleared. DPW keeps closing out the reports without doing anything.
I finally called DPW directly and they say they don’t do sidewalks and it’s not their problem (even though they created it). They couldn’t tell me who I’m supposed to call and just put in another 311 request, which will inevitably be declined.
Crickets from my councilmember’s office too.
It’s incredible that the District keep putting the burden on its residents to try and navigate a bunch of agencies that have such little interest in serving residents.”

“The sidewalks on I between 8 and 10 (SE). It’s the Marine Barracks. Makes walking for Seniors and others quite hazardous.”

Terry sends some shots from around Ward One too:<

Bob sends below from Columbia Heights:
“The Trinity AME Zion Church in Columbia Heights plus its several parking lots remain terrible. Love thy neighbor, unless it requires shoveling the walk!”
