Please note: the data reflects top trending searches, which means queries that had a high spike in traffic over a sustained period in 2024 as compared to 2023. So if you choose to write about these trends, it would not be accurate to refer to any of them as the “most searched” or “top searched”.
Google Local Trends Methodology
Local Year in Search highlights the top trending searches across all US metropolitan areas this year. Trending searches are defined as search terms with more search interest in 2024 compared to the previous year.
Local Lists encompasses all 210 U.S. designated market areas (DMAs), as defined by Nielsen, using Google Trends data from January 1, 2024 to November 18, 2024.
Trending searches in each category are calculated using anonymous and aggregated Google Trends data, specifically:
· Local trending lists are calculated based on search interest related to a Topic
· Local trending lists are calculated based on searches including a search term
· Local trending lists are based on comprehensive lists ranked in descending order”
