A reader reports on Saturday afternoon:
“I was out doing errands on 14th maybe an hour ago..some (probably) tourists came running up the block saying there’s a guy with a knife. Maybe a minute later I saw a guy … probably homeless, start walking up 14th from RI toward P. I ducked into a shop and called 911. Moments later he stalked by, brandishing a huge kitchen knife. Then he ended up fighting a swarm of people, possibly a group of delivery drivers off their scooters. Crowd of people was trying to hit him with motorcycle helmets.
One dude went after him with a bar stool and ended up throwing the stool at him in the street. All this took seconds. MPD showed up in force even as I was talking to dispatch. The cops were really quick and neutralized the guy immediately without shooting him. Wild times and also impressive by MPD.”
