It would be amazing if you could post about Humane Rescue Alliance’s urgent need for fosters by 12/31. Because DC is transitioning their animal control and animal care contract to another organization (Brandywine) on 1/1/25, HRA is losing their New York Avenue facility but is still responsible for those animals.
Their Oglethorpe location can only hold 115 dogs and they have well over 200 dogs in their care! Short term fostering would help so many of these dogs, even for a period of week(s)! Their most urgent need is for dogs over 30 lbs.
I know HRA has had their issues but these dogs shouldn’t be worse off for it. It would be amazing to see the DMV community come together to help these dogs in this time of need.
