“Dear PoPville,
Lately I have had to take the 42/43 buses downtown for a job that requires me to be absolutely punctual. The first day I was caught off-guard and was nearly late because I was unaware that there is a
change of drivers at Farragut Square at 8:45am. Several times my bus has been delayed because the driver was not present when we arrived.
This morning (Tues.) my bus was packed and already running late. It sat for a good while waiting for the driver before most of the passengers just got off and started walking. For me Farragut Square is just far enough away from where I need to be to be too far a walk to make it by 9am. Even when drivers are present they often take the time to get caught-up with each other while the passengers are forced to wait.
Why does WMATA insist on changing drivers at the busiest time of the morning rush in the busiest spot in downtown? Can’t they do this at the end of the route at the Kennedy Center or maybe at the start in Mt. Pleasant. It is really inconvenient for passengers who need to get to work on time!”
