From a press release:
“Chef Danny Lledó, owner and creative mind behind Washington, DC’s internationally renowned Spanish restaurant Xiquet announced today a forthcoming second restaurant, situated on the first floor of his intimate restaurant space in the Glover Park neighborhood. El Taller del Xiquet (pronounced “el ta-YER del chee-KETT”), or Xiquet’s Workshop, will take over the street-level space of Lledó’s Michelin-starred fine dining destination.
“El Taller del Xiquet is where the story of Xiquet begins,” said Lledó. “It will offer guests a glimpse into how my journey started, and a chance to taste dishes as they evolve. It is not a tasting menu, rather I invite everyone to explore the menu and design the meal they crave.”
The à la carte menu marries Lledó’s Valencian heritage with contemporary American innovation. Both come alive at El Taller del Xiquet via sharable compositions that highlight the seasonality of coastal Spain. Guests can indulge in award-winning paellas and generous fideuàs, served tableside; and a range of proteins and produce that reflect the region’s rich agricultural landscape.
Lledó continued, “Valencia has been my family’s home for generations. The recent floods devastated many communities and the livelihoods of the farmers and fishermen I’ve worked with for my entire career. This new concept gives us an opportunity to support them and help rebuild what they have lost, while also making our culture and culinary heritage accessible to even more Washingtonians and visitors.”

The space embodies Lledó’s polished aesthetic and celebratory approach to cooking. The dining room is adorned with splashes of color and traditional regional stoneware he secured from artists on a recent visit home. With just 14 seats, the space allows for intimate dinners for two, or communal tables to share with family and friends. Lledó added, “I want our guests to experience this food the way my people do.”
El Taller del Xiquet is expected to open later this month and will offer dinner Tuesdays through Saturdays from 5:00pm until 10:00pm. For more information and reservations visit www.eltallerdelxiquet.com.”
