From a press release:
“WHAT: Atlas Brew Works is excited to offer specials at all three taproom locations throughout the day on Thursday, October 31. Celebrate Halloween with $6.66 pints of Silent Neighbor, Festbier, and other select fall beers all day long. Pair these drink specials with award-winning Andy’s Pizza for purchase at the Navy Yard and Alexandria Brewery & Tap Room locations. All three locations will also host a costume contest at 8pm with the first place winners walking away with a $50 Atlas Brew Works gift card.
The brewery’s most award-winning beer, Silent Neighbor, features a headstone on its label. Across the way from the Ivy City location, in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, dwells the legacy of the Father of the Lager George Juenemann, who founded his DC brewery in 1884. An eternal neighbor to the brewery, Juenemann rouses postmortem pints, sipping in silence and solitude. Made with generous portions of rye and blackstrap molasses, this stout has a hearty richness shrouded in mystery. It opens with notes of rye, chocolate, and roasted barley blended with rich molasses and subtle fruity bitterness. Silent Neighbor’s accolades include the 2024 US Open Beer Championship Bronze Medal Winner, 2023 World Beer Cup Gold Medal Winner, 2023 US Open Beer Championship Bronze Medal Winner, and 2023 Great American Beer Festival Bronze Medal Winner.
With a 6.1% ABV, Atlas’ Festbier is both lighter in color and body than a traditional Oktoberfest beer. With an increased hop profile and sweet bread notes imparted from a blend of Munich, Vienna, and Pilsner malts, Festbier results in a more drinkable lager. The delightful orange blossom aromas are owed to a combination of German and American hops.
