Dear PoPville

“a main street that USED to be tree lined.”

“Dear PoPville,

This is the second tree to be taken down on our a main street that USED to be tree lined. I asked about the first one and never got a response. This is absolutely ludicrous and I expect an immediate response from the city. Why are these trees being taken down?

Why is the wood not being donated or offered to a woodworker and why is it being turned into mulch? What is the plan to immediately replace these? Although grown trees are literally impossible to replace because time cannot replace the growth and the contribution of these trees. It appears that DC is greenwashing supposed canopy efforts and not actually true efforts. I will be notifying the news about this and I do expect full report.

Who is approving these? This was not discussed with voters and residents and these impacting infrastructure and habitat, environmental decisions need to have the input of the tax paying residents of these streets.

This is on 10th and Maryland st ne. The second tree was on 9th and Maryland st ne.”
