And in a crazy coincidence, sorry scooter haters, Lime sends the following press release:
“Lime reiterated its commitment to serving Washington, D.C. today and highlighted its record ridership and focus on safe riding and proper parking.
“Riders in the District have been choosing Lime e-scooters and e-bikes more and more the last few years and we aren’t going anywhere. D.C. has become a national leader for micromobility and residents and visitors can still expect the same commitment to sustainable transportation, safe riding, and proper parking,” said Erika Duthely, Director of Government Relations at Lime.
Lime recently experienced its best stretch of ridership ever, with nearly 2 million rides in the summer months of June, July, and August alone. That mark represents an increase of 40% over the same months in 2023, which had broken records itself from prior years. Lime has invested heavily in its hardware, staff, and operations in D.C. in order to provide riders with their choice of vehicle, have it ready when they need it, and maintain tidy streets as much as possible.
As ridership booms Lime remains laser focused on safe riding and proper parking. Lime has been communicating with its riders regularly, sharing safety tips and reminding folks to obey the rules of the road. On parking, Lime is dedicating more time and staff to rebalancing vehicles and replacing misparked vehicles throughout the District. Lime analyzes data in real time to identify problem areas, especially on weekends and other high traffic time periods and is sending its additional staff to key areas at important times in order to keep streets neat and tidy.
Lime, a leading global provider of shared electric vehicles, announced earlier this year that in 2023 it achieved a consecutive record year in gross bookings, Adjusted EBITDA and total rides, building on Lime’s record-setting 2022. Lime provides shared e-bikes and e-scooters in 280 cities in nearly 30 countries as it continues its mission to decarbonize transportation globally and serve as an alternative to car travel. Lime’s global financial success allows it to make major investments in cities like D.C. in the form of added staff for parking improvements, hardware upgrades, the newest technology, and community partnerships like this year with the Capital Pride Alliance and When We All Vote.”
