I just witnessed (12:52pm) a large purple dump truck driving erratically near Med Star/Children’s Hospital heading eastbound on Michigan Ave NW. The driver of the dump truck refused to stay in its lane and crossed over the lane line to hit the car in front of me (a silver SUV of some kind). The truck was not trying to change lanes but was swerving all over the two eastbound lanes. The dump truck honked at the car it hit and drove away without stopping.
I tried to follow the silver SUV to give the driver my contact information but they pulled into a private parking garage at one of the hospitals and I couldn’t follow. I would be happy to serve as a witness for insurance or police for the driver that was hit if they would like to pursue this route. I noticed the dump truck speeding and ignoring lane lines for several blocks before the incident. Wish I had got the license plate number to report them for dangerous driving.”
