“Dear PoPville,
I thought you might like to know what Indigo is doing about scooter safety.
As you know, Indigo is an Indian restaurant halfway between Union Station and Gallaudet that everyone in the neighborhood loves. They do a lot of delivery business.
The owners, Nidhi and Dinesh, decided to make August Scooter Safety Month. For the entire month, whenever a delivery person picks up an order, they get a free visibility vest. Then, the next time they come in for an order, they get a free bottle of cold water if they are wearing their vest. (In fact, any driver wearing a vest can get free water no matter where they got it from.) They ran out vests on their first day.
It’s not a magic bullet, but it will make scooter riders easier to see and remind them that their safety matters. If other restaurants join Indigo, we’ll have the entire scooter brigade suited up before daylight savings time ends.”
