From a press release:
“When you order through To Go Green, a new restaurant delivery service powered by Uber, your food arrives in reusable containers instead of the typical single-use packaging. You have 3 weeks to return your containers at your door or in person to any participating restaurant to avoid being charged for the containers. Upon return, your containers will be cleaned and reused just like on-site dishware.

To Go Green is on a mission not only to reduce packaging waste but also to save restaurants money. They only charge restaurants a few cents per use of one of their reusable containers and charge lower commissions than the larger online ordering platforms.

Co-founders and brothers, Kevin Kay (29) and Harrison Kay (20), devised the concept during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they grew increasingly frustrated with the amount of waste their takeout orders created. Their startup was recently awarded a Ditch the Disposables grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust, DC Department of Energy and Environment, and DC Mayor’s Office as part of the DC government’s effort to transition from single-use to reuse.”
