Saturday night, people setting fireworks off at a field at South Dakota and Gallatin NE started a big fire.
One neighbor reported that the fire department took about 25 minutes to get there. This fire isn’t the only problem we’ve had with fireworks in our neighborhood. People set them off in the middle of the night, right next to houses, trees, and power lines. And now, this field, which was a huge field used for community space in the neighborhood, is largely burnt up. As a city, we need to talk about making fireworks illegal in the district.”
