“On July 5th, Takoma Park institution, the TPSS Co-op grocery store, will begin a 12 week construction project. During the remodel, the TPSS Co-op will run a pop up tent operation in the parking lot (Sycamore side lot), so that customers can still conveniently purchase items. The TPSS Co-op tent operation will carry produce, groceries, wellness products, beer, pre-packed bulk items and a large selection of other customer favorites. Note from the Co-op: Don’t wait until the last minute to stock up. The store will be sold down on many products by July 1st to prepare for the transition. Stock up on your pantry items before June 30th while they are still getting regular shipments!
Remodel
The store remodel will include a new layout, energy efficient refrigeration and freezer cases, new flooring, new HVAC, new restrooms and more! Feedback from customers and member-owners over the years was taken into account in all design aspects of the remodeled store. The store will gain more refrigerated, frozen and produce space in the reconfiguration and be able to carry additional products including products from more local vendors and package-free produce items that were previously limited by space constraints.
Meet the Tent!
On Thursday, July 4th following the TP Independence Day Parade, stop by the TPSS Co-op and “Meet the Tent” from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. Learn about the tent operation and chat with the Co-op’s staff and Board to get familiar with the summer set up.
