“D.C. Restaurateurs Reunite for New Project at The Parks at Walter Reed”

6810 Cameron Drive, NW

From a press release:

“D.C. restaurateurs Trent Allen, Robin Webb, Chris Powers, and Josh Saltzman are back with a new flagship project at The Parks at Walter Reed. These familiar faces from The Midlands Beer Garden and Ivy & Coney are reuniting to create another beloved neighborhood establishment along the Georgia Avenue corridor.

Located in the heart of the historic campus and next to the Great Lawn and dog park, the upcoming project will revitalize the historic mechanic shop and adjacent plaza. The as-yet-unnamed concept will be a casual restaurant with a beautiful 6,000 ft² patio, designed to be a welcoming space for everyone.

Whether it’s families looking for a casual dinner outing, outdoor enthusiasts seeking a post-Rock Creek Park refreshment, or neighbors raising a glass to celebrate, this new eatery aims to be a central hub for the Walter Reed community.

Launching in two phases, the project will begin this Summer with an airstream trailer bar, rotating food trucks and community events on the patio. Phase two will see the grand opening of the entire space including the full service bar and restaurant located inside the former mechanic shop in Spring 2025.

“We’re excited to create a beautiful space for the Walter Reed and broader DC community to enjoy,” says Trent Allen. “As a Ward 4 resident, having the opportunity to revitalize a historic space in our own backyard is a dream come true.”

Details on the name, full concept, and opening date to come!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
