“Weygandt Wines shop will close at the end of April”

3519 Connecticut Ave, NW opened here back in 2009

Thanks to J. for passing on from Weygandt Wines:

“When we opened our shop 15 years ago, we hoped at best to be a fixture in DC. To our joy, what we received was a community that stretched beyond borders and wine. Our objective was and has always been to offer wines and service of integrity and quality.

For much of the last decade Warren Leonard has been the face of this part of our business. Warren came to us in 2011 and grew in knowledge and trust to run our store for the past 7 years. We cannot adequately express our gratitude for the value that Warren has brought to the business. For that reason, it brings us sadness to announce his decision to pursue a new chapter in his life. We wish him, our dear friend, all and only the best, and hope to remain as close as we have become these last 13 years.

The announcement of Warren’s resignation corresponds in time with the end of our lease and the point at which to renew it if we choose. With reflection upon the void of Warren’s extraordinary leadership and personality, and the challenges of negotiating with new building ownership, we have decided to conclude the Weygandt Wines chapter.

We are not doing this of necessity, but because the time is right to do it on our own terms. Weygandt Wines shop will close at the end of April, but rest assured, Weygandt-Metzler will continue to have a presence in the DC/Maryland area through our distribution partner Prestige Ledroit. Over the coming 6+ weeks, we look forward to celebrating our 15 years of success with you and announce opportunities to continue enjoying our wines.

This announcement would not be complete without the expression of our deep and sincere appreciation to each and every one of you—our valued customers and friends in the enjoyment of special wines.
Thank You!

A personal note from Warren:

I want to thank everyone who has come through our doors and helped to make Weygandt Wines what it is! The words ‘customer’ and ‘client’ have always been hard to use when describing this exceptional wine community. For thirteen years, you have trusted me to help you choose bottles for meals, but also for the milestones and major events in your lives. I cannot put to words the pleasure and gratitude that trust makes me feel.

My journey in wine started while working at a busy bistro in Williamsburg, Virginia. The wine that did me in at 22: Saint Damien Gigondas Souteyrades 2007. A move to Richmond to finish my degree had me working in a small shop with incredible bottles. There were two bottles that started me down this path; one, a green bottle of Sancerre and the other, a Morey Saint Denis. Both came with that familiar Weygandt logo. Naturally, I had to visit Peter’s store in DC, but little did I know how quickly my life would change! The next time a great wine stops you in thought and you turn the bottle around to see that very same logo, don’t be surprised!

Leaving ‘the shop’ won’t be the hard part of this chapter ending; it will be saying goodbye to all of you. Thank you all for making the past thirteen years exciting and fulfilling.

To Peter and the whole Weygandt family, a truly sincere thank you for helping and supporting me in my career. The coming weeks will be bittersweet, but I look forward to sharing memories we’ve made here at the shop I’ve called home for so long.
Cheers!

Warren Leonard

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
