Thanks to J. for passing on from The Lane:

“Dear Friends,

I am reaching out with mixed emotions to share some news about The Lane at Ivy City. After much consideration, I have made the difficult decision to close the doors effective immediately.

The Lane has been a hub for laughter, fun, and a place to gather for all of life’s events. It has been a place where children have created lasting memories, and families have come together to share in the joy of play. However, I can no longer operate the business myself. I would be happy to transition the business to someone else who could carry it on and would be happy to have conversations about what that might look like.

I am reaching out to you, our valued supporters, to see if there is anyone within our community who may be interested in taking over the business. I understand that the decision to take on such an endeavor is a significant one, but I also know that the rewards of fostering community, creativity, and joy are immeasurable.

It was so clear after the town hall on Thursday that this space has so much to offer and the community really wants to see it succeed. The space is so needed for families in DC, and I hope this place can remain open so I can continue to frequent as a patron and supporter.

If you or someone you know is passionate about maintaining this vital community resource and has the time, dedication, and enthusiasm to take it on, please reach out to me at [email protected]. I am open to discussing the transition process, sharing insights into the operations, and providing ongoing support to ensure the continued success of the space.

I appreciate the support and camaraderie that each of you has brought, and I remain hopeful that a new caretaker will emerge to carry the torch forward. Thank you for being a part of this journey, and I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in preserving this essential space for generations to come.

Warm regards,

Jennifer May

Owner, The Lane at Ivy City”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
